Dr. Nick H. Truong
Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)
A Northern Virginia native, Dr. Truong owns Cascade of Smiles on Sollers Point Road in Dundalk.
How he came to dentistry
He took a dental assisting course in his junior year of high school and has been in the profession ever since. His first job, at sixteen, was as a dental assistant.
Education and training
Dr. Truong studied Biology with a Chemistry minor at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, then took a master’s in Biomedical Sciences at Barry University in Hollywood, Florida. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston.
Outside the practice
Dr. Truong spends his free time with family and friends. He is a self-described foodie who travels for the adventure and the food, and he enjoys live shows and sports events. He is a big basketball fan, and a Lakers fan in particular. He also hikes, camps and spends time on the water.

The rooms
Every treatment room has been upgraded.
New chairs, new delivery units, a screen at every chair, and a new imaging machine.
The imaging unit takes panoramic X-rays and cone beam scans. A cone beam scan builds a three-dimensional picture of the jaw rather than a flat one, which matters most before an implant or a difficult extraction, where the position of a nerve or a sinus decides how the treatment is planned.
X-rays are digital. The image is on the screen beside you within seconds, and the dose is lower than film.
The screen above each chair is there so you can see your own X-rays and photographs while they are being explained, instead of being told about them.
